NJ Solar Power and Open Energy Corporation Complete the First Installation of its SolarSave Roofing Membranes at KTS Machine Shop in Elmwood Park, New Jersey
- Completion marks the first installation since receiving UL approval and Class A fire rating, opening pipeline of pending projects
Open Energy Corporation (OTC BB: OEGY), a renewable energy company focused on the design and manufacturing of solar energy products, announced the completion of the first installation of its SolarSave® Roofing Membranes at KTS Machine Shop in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
The project includes 56 SolarSave® Roofing Membranes, creating a 25 kilowatt system. The building-integrated photovoltaic membranes are expected to generate 100 percent of the electrical energy needed to power the building.
“After reviewing all our options, we selected Open Energy’s SolarSave® Roofing Membranes as the only solution to provide complete coverage for this building’s energy needs. The product’s power output per square foot leads the industry and was easily integrated into the building structure. Working with our roofing contractor, Jottan Inc., we decided that given the limited roof space, it was imperative that the building had the highest power output per-square-foot and the SolarSave® Roofing Membranes were able to provide this,” commented Bill Hoey, Managing Member for NJ Solar Power; the project’s solar integrator.
“We were initially disappointed when we found out that conventional solar technology could only cover 70% of our electric bill. The SolarSave® Roofing Membrane was a smart choice as it covered 100% of our bill along with a 20 year roof warranty,” stated Stanley Barszcz, owner of KTS Machine Shop.
“This first installation of our SolarSave® membranes is an important step for Open Energy,” commented Howard Gomes, vice president of sales for Open Energy. “Our solar roofing system received UL approval and a Class A fire rating in July and we are now moving ahead with pending orders in our pipeline. The KTS Machine Shop is an excellent example of the SolarSave® Roofing Membranes’ superior performance capability and we are eager to continue with our pending installations of this award winning product.”
SolarSave® Membranes recently won the “Cool Product” award at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in 2006. They are ideally suited for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential low slope applications. The membranes encapsulate monocrystalline cells in high-performance composite materials laminated under vacuum pressure to create a single ply, waterproof, fire-rated, aesthetically appealing product.
